Born in a martial arts family where literally everyone mother, father, uncles and grandfather trained in the martial arts up to master and grand master level. John started training at 4 years of age in Judo to learn tumbling. In 1989 He started training under Chuzo Kotaka the All Japan Karate Champion in Shito Ryu Karate in Kaneohe Hawaii. In 1991 his family moved to California where he trained in Tae Kwon Do under his fathers close friend Grand Master Tan Tao Liang the famous Kung Fu Movie Super Star. From 1992 through to the present he has trained in Shaolin Kung Fu, Praying Mantis and Chinese/Korean Sip Pal Ki.
